Sonoma Ranch is a master-planned community on the East Mesa, built around the Sonoma Ranch Golf Course and reached by Sonoma Ranch Boulevard off US 70 and Lohman Avenue. It is one of the larger planned neighborhoods in Las Cruces, and it is still adding homes.
Because it sits on the mesa, much of Sonoma Ranch looks straight at the Organ Mountains to the east, and the homes along the golf course trade on that view.
The neighborhood is a collection of subdivisions, each with its own character. Among them are Diamond Springs, Sagecrest, Mission Santa Clara, Sedona Hills, Cave Creek and The Pueblos at Alameda Ranch. The mix is broad: condominiums and townhomes, production homes on city lots of about a fifth of an acre, and custom homes on the golf course and in the gated sections. Most were built from the early 2000s on.
Prices follow that mix. Much of Sonoma Ranch sells below $500,000. The homes above that are the larger custom homes, usually with a golf course or mountain view, and they seldom reach $1 million.
About half the homes are in a homeowner association, and the rules and dues vary by subdivision.
Shopping, restaurants and medical offices have followed the rooftops along the boulevard, so most errands are close by, and US 70 and Interstate 25 are a few minutes away.
